A Super stay at Supertubes in J-Bay

We could only stay for a single night travelling along the Garden Route from Durban to Hermanus.

This was a great pity as this is an excellent place to stay. Located a stone’s throw from the beach Jeffereys Bay with views of the Indian Ocean from our rooms and the patio downstairs.

The best accommodation in Jeffreys Bay!

We were road weary after being on the road for nearly two weeks, meetings at Indaba for four days and travelling since this morning.
But what a surprise… this was a home away from home. A dream destination!

 As bloggers on the road the first question was, “Do you have wifi?” Sure, she says and gave us the wifi codes for the faster internet… what a pleasant surprise!. There were even enough electrical outlets to charge our phones, tablets and laptops- all at once!

I wanted to share this experience with my online twitter and facebook friends! I did not have to go far as I could take a perfect photo of the ocean from any angle of the Supertube Guesthouse.

Rooms and bathrooms were all spacious with unexpected luxury touches .Steps were leading up to them or down to the kitchenette and the cozy lounge. We lingered on the beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean basking in the wonderful hospitality of Salome and the staff.

The patio with views to the lawn and ocean beyond looked inviting with comfortable garden furniture. If we could find anything that lacked it was sure more than made up by the character and quirkiness of the place.

My eyes opened to an unforgettable scene of dawn breaking over white sandy Jeffreys Bay beach in the background the sound of the powerful ocean waves which are what have made this such a mecca for surfers. .

Breakfast was superb, a buffet feast with my favourite muffins.

We had a long day ahead and decided on a bacon, sausages and eggs.

 The Supertube Collection and Guesthouse is a stone throw away from the famous supertubes surfers’ beach in Jeffereysbay. We speculated about the thoughts of the surfers standing on the edge overlooking the white sandy beach mesmerized by the surfers already on the beach and in the water.

Let’s agree…. Jeffereysbay is a surfer’s paradise!

What is a supertube you may ask? “A very long, fast, tubing right hand point that breaks along the west side of the bay. In season the break is regarded as one of the best right hand point breaks in the entire world, both in consistency and quality. It has been divided into several quirky named sections. ."Supertubes", which itself breaks for about 300m or more, is regarded as the best part of the wave.

Jeffreys Bay is one of the five most famous surfing destinations in the world and number two on "best in the world" surfing list. The town hosts the annual Billabong Pro ASP World Tour surfing event at Super Tubes during July. A calendar event for spectators and professional surfers from all over the world

For anyone looking for a beautiful place to chill seconds from the beach or surf but still be walking distance from the village you really cannot find a better place and we certainly did not want to leave.
