The Old Harbour Open-Air Museum is a provincial heritage site. It is unique in that apparently it is one of only two fishing harbours in the world that has been conserved in tact.

It’s summer holiday and Hermanus has a lot of fun-filled activities suited for families, groups and individuals, ranging from land to water to air activities to offer, here is my Hermanus “activity bucket list”
#1 - On the Activity Bucketlist: Shark Cage Diving

A stunning coastline connects Hermanus’s beaches, where white sandy beaches, rocks, grassy terraces, lagoons and rolling waves greet families, couples, surfers and those who want to simply kick back and enjoy the view. #3 - On the Activity Bucketlist: Quad biking
For those free spirit people take a ride through the spectacular vineyards of the Hamilton Russel Vineyards and the Southern Right Wine estate in Hemel-en-Aarde valley. Leisurely drive on the quad bikes can be enjoyed by the whole family, from the experts to the non experienced drivers. This exhilarating experience will take you to the top of the mountain, with a view of the ocean and back through the unique fynbos of the Overberg

#5 - On the Activity Bucketlist: Tubing and or Rafting
Tubing is provided during the summer months, while rafting is expected during winter. The Palmiet river offer breathtaking scenery as the mountains towers over you and the green reserve stretches all along the river.

#6 - On the Activity Bucketlist: Rocklands Petting Farm
Rocklands Petting Farm is an adventure for any child. Here they run free and can interact with the animals and play in a Farm environment. Mom and dad or the grandparents can relax in our garden with a cup of coffee. Order something to eat from our Tuck shop. Rocklands is also a popular venue for birthdays and other functions. #7 - On the Activity Bucketlist: Visit 1 of the 3 museums
This historical open-air Old harbour museum is developed around the Old Harbour and declared an open museum in 1972. People from around the world have flocked to this old fishing harbour, known to the locals as Visbaai where they would wait for the fishing boats to land their catch. Come down and go back in time where the villagers honour Remembrance Day of Soldier who lost their lives in WWl and WW2. The indoor museum is in the old fishermen’s huts along the walkway down to the Old Harbour, visit the Whale Museum with a full whale skeleton inside, and the De Wet’s Photo Museum houses a photographic exhibition of old Hermanus.
